Nastassja Vargas

I specialize in treating depression, anxiety, and trauma. Additionally, I am experienced in treating adjustment issues, grief and loss, relational issues, codependency, perfectionism, and shame. I utilize a holistic therapeutic approach, which is a combination of contemporary and alternative treatments, combined with evidence-based practices, to assist people in achieving a balance in mind, body, and energy naturally. This approach views the person as a whole being, paying close attention to all aspects of a person’s life, as issues in one area can create issues in other areas. A deeper understanding of the whole self can lead to increased self-awareness, self-esteem, and self-acceptance, as well as emotional and physical well-being.

Treatment is tailored to each person and is a collaborative effort between client and therapist. The therapeutic approaches I utilize are grounded in Polyvagal and Attachment Theories, and can include, but are not limited to, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Parts Work Therapy, Somatic Psychotherapy, Emotional Freedom Technique (Tapping), Neuro-Nutrient Therapy (the use of amino acids and vitamins), and Brainspotting. A typical treatment session consists of individual 53-minute appointments. Additionally, one, two, or three-day intensives are available as an accelerated form of treatment.

I am very passionate about holistic therapy as I have personally experienced great benefits from such an approach, where traditional methods alone have failed me. I wanted to create a space that allows for healing, vitality, and wholeness. A place where people can return to their true selves. A place where people come to understand that they make perfect sense. A place where all are welcome - regardless of age, gender, race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, or ability.

I’ve always had a desire to help others, which drew me to this field, but my own trauma of growing up in a household with a parent who has narcissistic personality disorder is what ultimately led me to seek knowledge about human behavior and how to recover from my own emotional wounds. I have discovered profound healing for myself through inner child work, reparenting, and brainspotting.

I have received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and a Minor in Psychology from California State University, Bakersfield, as well as a Master of Social Work degree with an emphasis on clinical services with children, adults, and families from Azusa Pacific University. I then became a California Licensed Clinical Social Worker in 2017. I have been working in the mental health field since before obtaining both degrees. I have provided case management, advocacy, crisis intervention, and individual and group counseling to persons spanning from infants to older adults. I have worked in many different settings, such as hospitals, emergency shelters, outpatient behavioral health programs, adult day health care facilities, and now private practice.

In my off time, you can find me outside playing with my goldendoodle, Phoebe, spending time with friends and family, traveling, or at concerts - nothing makes me feel more alive.
